In 1946, while playing first base, Stan Musial won his second National League MVP Award. Musial led the National League with a .365 average and 228 hits. The Cardinals won their fourth National League pennant in the 1940s and were matched up against the Boston Red Sox. The Cardinals won the World Series in the bottom of the eighth in Game 7, when Enos Slaughter scored from first to break a 3-3 tie.
